Kombucha is a fermented tea with a sour, tangy flavor containing little sugar or alcohol, and that is full of probiotics. It starts as steeped green and black tea, and through “culturing” over time it becomes a tart and slightly effervescent health drink. This process and its benefits resemble other cultured foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut, or vinegars. Kombucha has been known as a health elixir for thousands of years, but it is also a tasty beverage many people drink for the flavor alone!
